Takudzwa Charisse Taruza is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at UCT and at OpenDevEd. She holds a PhD in Urban and Regional Planning from North-West University. Her expertise spans GIS spatial analysis, sustainable community development, informal settlement upgrading, integrated human settlement planning, policy development, disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation and resilience building in vulnerable communities. Previously, she worked as a Town Planner and GIS Consultant contributing to projects on spatial planning, disaster risk reduction and geohydrology. She has also served as an independent research consultant for projects on incorporating climate change adaptation into informal settlement upgrading. Takudzwa is driven by a desire to bridge the gap between policy and practice to develop innovative solutions for equitable urban transformation.
