Are you ready to make a lasting impact on education in the face of climate change? ASCEND (African Synthesis Centre for Climate Change, Environment and Development) at UCT invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship (PDRF) focused on adapting school infrastructure to climate challenges across sub-Saharan Africa.

This is your chance to join a transdisciplinary team of researchers, policymakers, and practitioners, collaborate on cutting-edge solutions, and influence real-world policies.

What You’ll Work On:

  • Assess the impact of climate change on student learning and education systems.
  • Identify vulnerable schools and develop an interactive map for targeted climate interventions.
  • Explore and evaluate climate-proofing strategies for school infrastructure.

You’ll be based full-time at ASCEND, engaging with top experts and contributing to actionable research that will shape the future of education in Africa.

Bonus points for: Experience with AI, machine learning, education data analysis, and public science communication.
